Pastry | Bake to the roots

Several weeks ago I had somewhat of a »choux pastry phase« where this cute little Choux Pastry Hearts with Raspberry Whipped Cream came to life ;) They were originally not intended to be for Valentine’s Day, but they fit perfectly for that type of »holiday«, right? Well… actually for any other day of the year. I would love to get one of these 365 days of the year. I would gain a lot of weight, but I would be happy. Unfortunately/Fortunately, this is not gonna happen because there is nobody here that would bake them for me each day ;)

Paris Brest with Hazelnut Praliné Cream

In France, they got a seemingly endless supply of delicious sweet treats it seems. French Pâtisserie is an important part of French culture. One of my favorite sweet treats I am, unfortunately, not making often enough, is Paris Brest. Rings of choux pastry with a nutty, caramel cream filling. Soooo extremely (and dangerously) delicious! There’s no other way to say it… ;)

Happy Halloween! Oh well… it’s probably not even Halloween yet if you ended up here looking for something bloody to bake ;) People normally do that days in advance. Looking for something to serve at a Halloween party. Well, if you like spooky stuff you are in the right place. These (Halloween) Intestines Cinnamon Rolls will make people say “oohh” or “aaah”. I’m pretty sure! And not only because this bake looks creepy, but also because the cinnamon rolls are super yummy ;)

Apple & Pear Strudel with Filo Dough

September is almost over. This means it’s time for another “Bake Together – The Baking Surprise” with Andrea from Zimtkeks & Apfeltarte – our monthly baking event. It seems like the last one was only days ago ;) Well… today we are baking something with apples and pears – the title “Apple & Pear Strudel with Filo Dough” probably gave it away already ;P

Salted Caramel Chocolate Croissants

Anything sweet made with fluffy yeast dough, danish dough or puff pastry dough has always been my downfall. There is no other way to say it ;) Something sweet and fluffy – either filled with something fruity or chocolate – all of that is just too tempting for me. Especially, when fresh from the oven… I guess nobody can (really) say “no” to a croissant, danish, or any other sweet treat like that. Today I present to you “Exhibit A” to prove my point: delicious Brioche Croissants filled with Salted Caramel and Chocolate. So good!

New Orleans Beignets (Fritters)

If there is one thing that is absolutely needed for carnival, it’s deep-fried sweets! Who – or better said – what else is supposed to soak up all the alcohol you consumed at a carnival party? Deep-fried donuts, fritters, and beignets! Exactly! However, this does not mean that people who don’t drink alcohol (I’m one of them) are not allowed to eat those sweet little treats… we like them too and we definitely devour them as well after a long night of partying ;P

Many many moons ago, I brought a recipe for Classic New Orleans Beignets home from the US. Delicious delicacies that are actually not only great during carnival – they are actually great to make all year round ;P
